THE STRATEGY
Play music
Sorry, this is a day late but, I wanted to give you a strategy that could help you cope during this stressful time. So I'm sharing what I'm doing. I'm playing music that speaks for me, I'm pouring my stress, concern, worry, anger, and excitement into my instrument.
I'm not saying practice, I don't know about you, but I'm too distracted to practice. Simply use your voice and instrument as a conduit for everything that you are feeling. At a time where maybe the last thing you want to do is play, the strategy I offer you today is to literally play your heart out.
THE SCIENCE
The vibrations in music trigger our human systems — brain chemistry mostly, but we “feel” vibration all over and respond in physiological ways that are unique to each one of us. We respond to sound and rhythm: mentally, emotionally, and physically. We just can’t help it.
